Christmas Eve

Not much making but plenty of baking - this week there has been cranberry and apple sauce, flapjack, banana loaves, mincemeat buns and a Christmas cake!

So, as it's Christmas Eve, here's a few photos of our day!

Sunday 4 December 2011

Sunday 4th December 2011

This week's baking:

Mincemeat buns

Christmas gingerbread - stars, trees, hearts and gingerbread men

Winter fruit salad - pears, apples, satsumas, raisins in a syrup made from cranberry juice, brown sugar, cinnamon and ginger, just warmed up and served with vanilla ice cream  (and a piece of gingerbread!)

This week's making:

Christmas Patchwork Cushion

The patchwork part is finished, now it needs turning into a cushion!

Sunday 27 November 2011

Christmas is coming!

This week's baking:

Boozy Christmas fruit for the Christmas cake (from www.thepinkwhisk.co.uk)

Herman the sourdough cake (one on the left has dried apple, the one on the right has fresh cooking apples in -  an experiment to see which is the best!)

This week's making:

finished bag:

(Well, I say finished, it wasn't quite then! There's a flower missing from the back, and the buttons to fasten the bag are missing from the front!)

Candy cane candle

This was hard!! The candy canes are taped to the glass inside, and they still kept falling off and breaking! Hubby and Small Boy had a great time eating the broken ones though!

Fairy Cakes and Pink Bags

This week's baking:

Fairy cakes (sorry, they aren't' cupcakes or muffins or any other name, in this house they are fairy cakes!)

This week's making:

Still the bag for my friend's birthday - it's on Thursday so I need to get it finished!! Now has flap and inside, the outer is still in progress and the sewing machine is grumpy at the moment. Must locate the instruction book!

Oopsy, another blog!

I needed this to collect together any home made sewing, crafting and baking thoughts, ideas and items.

This weeks baking - toffee apple flapjack

Ingredients:
100g butter
100g golden castor sugar
3 tbsp golden syrup
225g oats
150g chopped dried apple
10 chopped toffees

Melt butter, sugar and syrup, remove from heat and stir in oats, apple and toffees. Fill a lined baking tray (mine is 24cm square and 5cm deep) and bake at 180 degrees (mine is a fan oven) for 25 mins.
